Lamborghini Enters the World of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)

After a series of social media posts hints at it, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini finally revealed its NFT (non fungible token) Project. Dubbed Space Key and created in collaboration with an unknown artist the project is built on a piece of advanced carbon fiber composite material that was delivered to the International Space Station for research purposes.

Lamborghini, the Italian car manufacturer, is taking a first step into non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The latest project - dubbed the Space Key - is a work of art that was that was created in collaboration with an unknown artist. The NFT is a unique piece of digital art that can be obtained by scanning an QR code. The project is limited and will be auctioned off within the coming weeks.

The Space Key is made of a carbon composite material that Lamborghini, as part a research project in the year 2019 sent to the International Space Station. After it returned to Earth, the carbon fiber was crafted into this unique artwork. The physical object is equipped with an NFT serial code that connects to the digital artwork via QR code printed on the back.

NFTs, for those who aren't familiar they are unique identifiers that are recorded on a distributed ledger of the blockchain and connected to digital assets such as a photograph or video, song or any other type of record. This allows owners to ensure authenticity and scarcity as well as trackability of tokens through the internet.

Working with NFT PRO which is a white-label NFT solution for businesses, Lamborghini will take this unique approach to art to the next level. Over the next few weeks, Lamborghini will release details about the exciting project, including the name of the unidentified artist as well as a timeline for the auction.

Following multiple social media posts teasing something that was space-related, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini has stepped into the realm of non-fungible tokens (NFT) by launching an exclusive project dubbed Space Key. The NFT was developed in collaboration with an unknown artist and will be auctioned off in just a few weeks. It is a piece of high-tech carbon fiber composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station (ISS) in the year 2019 as part of an ongoing research project. The carbon fiber was 3D printed to form the basis of each Space Key, which is connected to an exclusive, purely digital artwork via the QR code printed on its backside. Five Space Keys have been produced.

NFTs are unique identifiers that are recorded on distributed ledgers such the Blockchain and tied to digital assets such as images. They're popular for those with more money than sanity and it was only a matter of time until an automaker decided to cash in on the trend.

Space Key consists of five units. They were constructed using a physical piece of the carbon fiber composite which was delivered to the ISS in 2019. Each NFT will be linked to an exclusive digital artwork by the same artist via QR codes on the back of the carbon fiber piece. In the coming weeks and days, more information will be revealed including the name and digital artwork of the artist as well how to purchase one of the five Space Keys.

The digital artwork

After several weeks of social media posts hinting at it, the luxury car manufacturer Lamborghini has finally announced its first non-fungible token (NFT) project. The Space Key is a collection of five physical items which will unlock a special digital art by the yet to be identified artist. The  collectors' item was created in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm) and is limited to just five units. It will be auctioned soon.

The core of each Space Key is a block made of a high-tech carbon fire composite material. It was sent to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a research project. After returning to Earth the Space Key was stamped with a QR code that links it to the digital component of the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys will feature a distinct moment that happens seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. More than 600 million pixels each of the five images which were captured by photographer Fabian Oefner.

Oefner used a balloon with a camera to capture each of the individual shots, which were then combined into the final image. The result is a picture that is out of this world. The auction

With the tagline 'to the moon', the prestigious automobile maker Lamborghini has entered the world of non-fungible tokens (NFT) with a fascinating project created in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm). The auctions, which take place between February 1 through February 4, last for 75 hours and 50 minutes - the same amount of time it took for Apollo 11 to leave Earth and enter lunar orbit. The five NFTs can be bought by making an online registration. Each NFT will be auctioned off separately and the winner will get an artwork created by renowned photographer Fabian Oefner that captures five different moments that the Space Key experienced during its flight in outer space.
